Fostering Future

Leaders

Brief Bio.

I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. I attended T.G. Barr Elementary and I graduated from South Mountain High School. I've always strived to give back to my community, whether it is stop the violence initiatives, feeding those unhoused and families in need in partnership with St. Mary's Food Bank, or finding resources. My efforts continued with community cleanups, dress suits drive and give-a-ways. My background includes behavioral health and finance. I've managed group homes here in South Phoenix with children that attended Roosevelt School District. In collaboration with the Arizona Department of Child Safety (AZDCS), Roosevelt School District principals, teachers and other organizations, we helped these children graduate from the district and high school. We further built rapport and trust with children and witnessed improvement in their behavior and academics. Another great result of our efforts is an average of 700% annual placement rate for children—they either return to their homes or were adopted. With a financial background, I am honored to have contributed to the community by enhancing financial literacy, helping parents and children develop essential budgeting and banking skills.

Goals

  • To achieve our retention goal for students and staff, we will prioritize competitive compensation and benefits alongside consistent, responsive feedback loops. We will advocate for fair wages and comprehensive benefits to support staff, even in challenging financial times, recognizing that a stable and valued workforce is essential for student success. By consistently collecting and responding to feedback from students and staff, we’ll better understand their evolving needs, improve satisfaction, and make necessary adjustments to foster a supportive, engaged, and long-term commitment to our district. Through these efforts, we aim to build a resilient and impactful educational community within Roosevelt School District.

  • To truly engage parents and the community, I plan to establish regular town hall meetings and listening sessions with parents, teachers, and local leaders to create a space where their concerns and ideas are heard. I will also develop parent resource workshops to help families better understand the education system, their role in their child’s success, and how to support their children academically and emotionally. By collaborating with local organizations, we can provide resources such as after-school programs, mentorship opportunities, and volunteer initiatives to strengthen the bond between the school district and the community.

  • As someone with financial expertise, I will thoroughly analyze the district's current budget to identify areas where we can reallocate resources more efficiently. I will push for transparency in spending so that the community understands how their tax dollars are being used. Additionally, I will advocate for securing more state and federal grants that can enhance our school programs and infrastructure. I also support voter-approved bond and override measures, ensuring that taxpayers understand the long-term benefits of investing in our schools. By creating a budget that prioritizes classroom support, we can invest in teacher salaries, updated materials, and modernized facilities.

  • To ensure students have access to the resources they need, I will work to establish partnerships with local nonprofits, businesses, and government agencies. This could include setting up tutoring programs, mental health services, and college or career prep workshops. I will also leverage existing community organizations that have a track record of supporting youth, such as local entities. Additionally, I will push for the development of resource hubs within schools, where students and families can easily access everything from academic support to financial literacy workshops. By making resources more accessible, we can remove barriers to student success.

  • Transparency begins with clear and consistent communication. I will advocate for creating an online portal where all district decisions, budgets, and meeting minutes are posted for public access. I will also encourage the creation of a parent and teacher advisory board to provide regular feedback on board initiatives and policies. By actively using social media, newsletters, and other platforms, I will ensure that the community stays informed about key decisions and opportunities for involvement. Importantly, I will maintain an open-door policy, where community members can bring their concerns directly to the board for discussion. This fosters trust and ensures that we are acting in the best interests of our students and families.
